Data from the National Elections Commission, NEC’s first preliminary results show that Opposition Unity Party Standard Bearer, Joseph Nyumah Boakai has taken an early lead in the 2023 presidential election.
The Commission’s Chairperson, Madam Davidetta Brown Lassana disclosed results from 16 polling stations which placed Mr. Boakai in the lead followed by incumbent President, George Weah.
There are a total of 5,890 Electoral precincts in Liberia and NEC data shows that only 16 of them have been covered which constitutes 0.27 percent.
The data places Boakai on top with a total vote of 3,119 and George Weah with 1,681 votes and a margin of 1,438.
The National Elections Commission has committed itself to continue informing the public daily until the final results are announced on 25 October 2023.

Polling Places: 13 of 171 = 7.60%
UP _ 2,543 = 64.01%
CDC_1,134 = 28.54%
Total Votes = 4,126.
MONTSERRADO COUNTY
Polling Places: 3 of 2008= 0.15%
UP _ 576 = 47.6%
CDC _547 = 45.17%
Total Votes = 1,211
According to Madam Lassana, Elections were held in almost all of the Precincts in Sinoe County except, Karquekpo and Jarpuken in electoral district #2 and Togbaville district #3 due to bad roads.
According to her, she also received a report from the Election magistrate in Rivercess that Elections were held in the majority of the Precincts except one precinct with code 36007 polling place in Suakon Debah Town.
Additionally, the NEC Chairperson Madam Lassana, said an extension has been made in these two counties ( Rivercess & Sinoe) due to the late arrival of NEC materials and the heavy downpull and flooding.
NEC has assured Liberians that all efforts are being made to complete the Election in the affected areas in the coming days and to ensure credibility and professionality safety.
