The opposition Liberty Party have announced the expulsion and revocation of the memberships of its embattled Political Leader Senator Nyonblee Karnga-Lawrence and other key officials of the party.
Senator Lawrence of Grand Bassa County, Senator Abraham Darius Dillon of Montserrado County who is former Vice Chair for Political Affairs of the LP, Former Secretary General Jacob Smith, Senator Steve Zargo of Lofa County and Daniel Sando were all expelled for supporting the candidacy of former Vice President Joseph N. Boakai of the Unity Party against the interest of the Liberty Party.
The Chairman of the Liberty Party Musa Bility who is also Chairman of the Collaborating Political Parties which the LP forms part of, made the pronouncement on Friday July 14, 2023, edition of the famous Closing Argument Show aired on KMTV.
“This decision comes out of the fact that these individuals have accepted to take positions to campaign for candidates order than the Liberty Party Candidates in the 2023 elections”, Chairman Bility stated, recalling that similar action was taking against Senator Dillon in 2011, when he opted to be a member of the Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf campaign team, against the interest of the LP.
“The Liberty Party is firm, the Liberty Party remains supreme, and we will continue to consolidate the party to be a vibrant one” he asserted, warning the expelled officials of the LP to stay away from doing business in the name of the party, or face legal consequences under the laws. He disclosed that formal communications will be sent out the expelled officials.
