CF Montréal Signs Canadian Born Liberian Goalkeeper Samsy Keita to First Professional Contract

MONTREAL, CANADA – CF Montréal announced today that it has awarded a first professional contract to Canadian born Liberian and club-trained goalkeeper Samsy Keita.

Samsy is the son of former Lonestar Head Coach Ansu Keita. The goalkeeper has signed an agreement covering the 2026, 2027, 2027–28, and 2028–29 seasons, with options for the 2029–30 and 2030–31 seasons.

Keita becomes the 30th homegrown player in CF Montréal history and the fifth Academy goalkeeper to join the first team.

“We are very pleased to announce Samsy’s signing to the professional squad,” said Luca Saputo, CF Montréal’s Senior Director of Recruitment and Sporting Methodology. “His work ethic and goalkeeping qualities make him a very promising player. We have full confidence in his potential and his ability to become a lasting part of our project.”

Keita joined CF Montréal’s Academy from Celtix du Haut-Richelieu in July 2024. Last year, he helped the Bleu-blanc-noir U16 team qualify for the MLS NEXT playoffs.

During the past season, Keita was invited to train with the first team at the age of 15. He also received his first call-up to the club’s training camp in Marbella, Spain, this past January.

On the international stage, Keita has represented Canada at the U16 and U17 levels. In November 2025, he was selected at age 16 to be part of Canada’s squad for the FIFA U17 World Cup in Qatar.
