Kakata, Margibi County – A Nigerian pastor identified as Ernest Ihejiemeounu, who pastors a church in Kakata, has been arrested by the Liberia National Police (LNP) following allegations that he sexually abused a 17-year-old girl who is a member of his church.
According to police sources, the pastor was arrested on Monday morning as investigations continue into claims that he allegedly impregnated the minor, who reportedly serves as a member of the church choir.
The victim alleged that after becoming pregnant, Pastor Ihejiemeounu gave her LD 19,000 to carry out an abortion. The girl parents claimed the abortion was allegedly performed on February 1, 2026.
The matter came to light after the parents noticed that their daughter became seriously ill following the alleged abortion. Upon questioning her condition, the girl reportedly disclosed that the pastor was responsible for the pregnancy.
The parents further stated that when they confronted the pastor about the allegation, his wife later escorted the minor to the Kakata Police Station, where she claimed that the accusation was an act of character assassination against her husband.
Pastor Ihejiemeounu had previously been accused of bigamy in 2025, an allegation that also generated public attention.
The suspect is currently in police custody as the Liberia National Police continue investigations into the matter.
Police say further updates will be provided as the investigation progresses.
