Monrovia, Liberia – July 5, 2026 – President Joseph Nyuma Boakai, Sr. has departed Liberia for a working visit to Istanbul, Republic of Türkiye, where he is expected to hold high-level engagements aimed at strengthening diplomatic relations and promoting Liberia as an investment destination.
According to a release from the Executive Mansion issued Sunday, the visit forms part of the Boakai Administration’s efforts to deepen bilateral cooperation with Türkiye while attracting foreign direct investment to support Liberia’s economic development.
During the visit, President Boakai is scheduled to meet with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan to discuss matters of mutual interest and explore opportunities to expand cooperation between the two countries.
The discussions are expected to focus on several strategic sectors, including trade and investment, infrastructure development, healthcare, education, agriculture, energy, and technical cooperation.
In addition to his official meetings with Turkish government officials, President Boakai will also engage leading Turkish business executives and investors to showcase Liberia’s investment opportunities and encourage greater private sector participation in the country’s development agenda.
The Executive Mansion said the engagements are intended to strengthen economic partnerships and attract investment into priority sectors of the Liberian economy.
President Boakai is accompanied on the trip by a small delegation that includes Minister of State Without Portfolio, Hon. Hadja Mamaka Bility, along with other senior government officials.
While the President is away, Minister of State for Presidential Affairs, Hon. Samuel A. Stevquoah, will chair Cabinet meetings in consultation with Vice President Jeremiah Kpan Koung, while maintaining regular communication with President Boakai throughout the visit.
The Liberian leader is expected to return to the country at the end of the week following the conclusion of his official engagements in Türkiye.
