NEC Announces the Arrival of Election Materials
The National Elections Commission through its Chairperson, Madam Davidetta Brown Lassana has announced the arrival of assorted Election materials barely 13 days to the conduct of the October polls.
The materials including ballot boxes, precinct kits, Tactile ballot guides, indelible ink, and assorted stationery arrived in the country from Ghana on Monday, September 25 via the Roberts International Airport.
According to the Head of the Commission at such a crucial time, NEC is fully committed to conducting transparent and credible Elections.
The NEC Chairperson said the following categories and quantities are Presidential ballots, three million three hundred twenty thousand five hundred (3,320,500) and Senatorial ballots including Three million four hundred two thousand one hundred twenty-two (3,402,122), the Representative ballots contain Three million four hundred three thousand two hundred eight (3,403,208).
She noted that the NEC has recruited over 79 electoral District coordinators, 382 electoral supervisors, and 30,812 polling staffers.
Madam Brown said NEC has entered into a memorandum with 37 Community-based and 7 Monrovia-based Radio stations to assist with CVE and Media activities.
“The Commission also runs several programs to disseminate information about the electoral process and successfully access 30 rural Community Radio stations through INTERNEWS,” she said
Meanwhile, for the ongoing procurement of land transport vehicles, the National Elections Commission has put in a procurement process for additional transportation means to convey electoral materials throughout the country.
“NEC reiterates that the FRR for the Presidential and Legislative Elections will be available to all political parties, Independent candidates, and other stakeholders upon completion of the ongoing process to secure the data”
Chairperson Lassana said as indicated by law, the list of precincts has been published since September 11, 2023.
“Additionally, to ensure the process is more transparent, as has been done in the past, the final registration roll is being printed to be pasted at the 2080 precinct across the country before Election day.
She added that to facilitate an effective and robust CVE exercise, several educational and awareness materials have been produced and are being distributed nationwide.
” These include posters, flyers, t-shirts, caps, banners, jingles, and drama, videos of the voting steps and, soon to come, video of the tally will be distributed as well.
