The Senate Statutory Committee on Judiciary, Human Rights, Claims and Petition will conduct confirmation proceedings for Judge Ceaineh D. Clinton-Johnson, Associate Justice- designate of the Supreme Court of Liberia.
Judge Clinton-Johnson was nominated on June 21, 2024 by President Joseph Nyuma Boakai as Associate Justice of the Honorable Supreme Court of Liberia.
According to a Press Release from the Press and Public Affairs of the Liberian Senate, the confirmation proceedings will commence on Wednesday July 10 with the nominee presentation of her qualifications, experience , as well as suitability, which will be followed by cross-examination of the nominate by Senators.
The Chairman of the Judiciary, Human Rights, Claims and Petition Senator Cllr. Augustine Chea of Sinoe County has extended an open invitation to members of the Liberian National Bar Association (LINBA) , including stakeholders of the Country Judiciary sector as well as the general public.
Cllr. Chea at the same time added that during the confirmation proceedings written questions and inquiries will be entrained by the committee from member of the public.
Associate Justice-designate if confirmed will replaced Former Associate Justice Joseph Nagbe who died in early March 2024 following a protracted illness.
Prior to her nomination, the Associate Justice-designate served as Resident Judge of the Sexual Offenses Court/ Criminal Court “E”, 2008-2024) as well as Consultant to do Country Report for ICRC For Liberia’s compliance to the International Humanitarian Law Treaties, 2010(2009-2010) and Teaching Assistant to Prof. Sarah Paoletti, University of Pennsylvania Law School, Human Rights Program (2009-2010). And Assistant Professor of the Louis Arthur Grimes School of Law, University of Liberia (2008).
