Margibi County: As politicians embarked on vigorous campaign activities through out the Country, the Center for Justice and Peace Studies has intensifies her non violence campaign approach through capacity building trainings amongst State actors and duty bearers for peaceful coexistence.
The daylong capacity building trainings which was held in Kakata over the weekend is organized by the Center for Justice and Peace Studies with funding from UNDP through its Peace Building Fund.
The exercise brought together 45 participants including Youth and Women chairs from various Political parties as well as personnels of the Liberia National Police, Liberia Immigration Service Drug Enforcement Agency, Liberia National Fire Service and members of the community watch Team.
The capacity building Engagements was held in collaboration with the National Elections Commission and the Liberia National Police over the weekend..
According to CJPS program manager, the separate capacity training is part of their Counties wide ongoing Engagement organized amongst Youth’s and Women chairs of various Political parties including State actors and duty bearers for conflicts mitigation and coexistence during campaign and after Elections.
Francis Senkpanie Konyon told Journalists that Nimba, Bong, Margibi and Montserrado are beneficiary Counties.
In further statement, he told this platform that CJPS, a Peace Building institution is also concerned about the conduct of a peaceful elections and therefore, non violence campaign approach amongst Liberian during these period of Campaigns and after the October 10 Elections must be thoroughly looks at through capacity building.
Noting, that the Peaceful environment can be maintained by all when such training are provided to the actors and duty bearers irrespective of their political responsibilities.
During the daylong engagement exercises, key focus among many things includes, Women and Youth Participations in elections, the understanding of the Electoral processes including civic voters education and information, the negative effects of campaign violence, and as well as, the establishment and understanding of community policing were key during the dialogue discussions.
According to Francis, his institution is hopeful that knowledge provided and acquired during the daylong trainings engagement will be taken into consideration as the Country’s moved towards the holding of the October 10 pools.
Meanwhile, Samuel G Ford, the Assistant Commissioner of Police serves as lead facilitator assisted by Deddeh Grace Marshall Fanga, Assistant Magistrate of the local elections commission office in Kakata Margibi County.
