USA – August 13, 2026 – American Born Liberian rising artist Tracey Jones has reportedly signed with Roc Nation, the entertainment company founded by American rapper and businessman Jay-Z, following the viral success of her rap song “Like You.”
The announcement was made by her father, renowned Liberian gospel singer Victor Jones, who said the 22-year-old artist attracted the attention of several record labels after posting the song on TikTok.
Tracey was born in the United States to Liberian parents, Victor Jones and Maryann Roberts, and developed an interest in music at an early age.
According to her father, Tracey began singing gospel music at just eight years old and recorded covers of “Jesus, Take the Wheel” and “I Look to You.” Her early performances introduced her to many within the Liberian community long before her transition into rap music.
Following her college graduation in May 2026, Tracey began exploring a different musical direction.
Her 19-year-old younger brother, Victor Jones Jr., a professional sound engineer, created a beat that would ultimately become the foundation for her breakthrough song.
Tracey recorded a rap over the beat, titled the song “Like You,” and uploaded it to TikTok.
According to her father, the song quickly went viral, drawing the attention of several record labels that were interested in signing the young artist.
Jones said his daughter’s distinctive rap style helped her stand out from other emerging artists, eventually leading to multiple offers. Tracey ultimately decided to sign with Roc Nation.
Roc Nation, founded by Jay-Z, is a major entertainment company involved in music, artist management, publishing, touring and other areas of the entertainment industry.
The reported signing represents a dramatic new chapter in Tracey’s musical journey—from singing gospel songs as a child in the Liberian community to pursuing a professional career as a female rapper.
Her father said Tracey told him shortly after graduating from college that she believed she had finally discovered herself musically as a rapper.
While he initially had reservations about the change in direction, Jones said he and Tracey’s mother have decided to fully support their daughter’s ambitions.
Her family believes she has found her true musical identity and intends to stand behind her as she pursues the opportunity.
“When people find themselves, they can do way better,” Jones said while expressing optimism about his daughter’s future.
According to her family, Tracey’s music has already begun receiving radio airplay in New York, North Carolina and several other U.S. states, further expanding the reach of her viral breakthrough.
