Scores of concern continue to be raised by rural dwellers over the delay by the Liberian Senate to confirm recently nominated and appointed officials by President Joseph Nyuma Boakai.
It can be recalled in early April President Joseph Nyuma Boakai nominated Dozens of local officials from Bomi, Bong, Grand Kru , Sinoe among others to various positions ranging from City Mayors, Superintendents, Commissioners and many others but the Liberian Senate is yet to conduct confirmation hearings for these officials.
According to them, in the absence of confirmation processes, operations at the local levels to some extend have been impacted at the detriment of the locals.
As concern continues to flow in, one among the many local officials nominated and is yet to be confirmed is Wilfred Doe from Snoh City in Upper Bolloh, Grand Kru County.
Mr. Doe was nominated by president Boakai in April 2024 to serve as City mayor of Snoh City in Upper Bolloh, Grand Kru County.
Speaking to our reporter an eminent son of Grand Kru County and former Director General at the Liberia Institute of Statistics and Geo- Information Services, (LISGIS) Prof. Francis Wreh appeal to the Liberian Senate to see the need in a timely faction to confirm Nominee Doe in order for him to have the legal authority to serve his people.
“He is a hard working and dedicated son of the soil and I think, this is his time to do more for his people as such, let the Liberian Senate kindly do the needful “, he re-emphasized.
“Hon. Senator, Your immediate and prompt intervention to this process will be highly appreciated”, he added.
Meanwhile, it is still unclear, the reasons behind the delay in the confirmation of dozens of local officials by the Senate but they are not the only batch of officials who are yet to be confirmed by the House of Elders.
Well as the Legislature prepares for its annual constituency break, the call by Mr. Wreh if not implementing now will mean that those local officials will have to wait for the longest, if not in 2025.
