LiDTT Boss Amos Williams Supports Liberia’s Bid For UN Security Council Non Permanent Seat

As Liberia’s bid for a non-permanent seat on the United Nations Security Council continues to swell, international and local partners, including individuals, continue to pledge their support towards such meaningful venture.

Well, the latest to join the fray in proactively campaigning for such a global seat is Amos Williams, former president of the Federation of Liberian Youth, FLY.

Mr. Williams now Executive Director of the Liberia Diplomatic Think Tank (LiDTT), has publicly thrown his weight behind Liberia’s campaign for a non-permanent seat on the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) for the 2026–2027 term.

According to him, the bid as a “diplomatic milestone” for the country, as such, called on all Liberians home and abroad, including international partners, to unite in promoting Liberia’s candidacy.

“Let us collectively elevate awareness, build strategic alliances, and demonstrate unified national resolve,” he said.

Williams’s endorsement comes as President Joseph Nyuma Boakai’s administration intensifies efforts to gather international support ahead of the June 2025 vote.

As part of ongoing efforts, a National Steering Committee has been established to guide the bid and coordinate outreach with UN member states.

Williams further stated that Liberia’s campaign emphasizes its unique experience in peacebuilding and conflict resolution and its commitment to amplifying the voices of underrepresented nations in global affairs.

He, at the same time, indicated that his organization, LiDTT, is working to galvanize youth and diplomatic circles to support the effort and expand Liberia’s presence on the international stage.

As the campaign continues to get National and international boost ahead of the June’s vote , National Government has reechoed the need for Liberians to see the campaign as their own and rally around others despite political background and work in the spirit of unity and peace in order to ensure that the nation achieve such crucial global recognition which will be a national proud to all Liberians.
