Alfred G. Kamara has been sentenced to life imprisonment for the murder of his security guard, James Moore, at a diamond mining site in Grand Cape Mount County. Kamara was found guilty by trial jurors after three weeks of trial on March 14, 2024.

The court denied the Defense Counsel’s Motion for New Trial and imposed the sentence following the guilty verdict. 43 years old accused Moore of stealing fuel oil from his mining equipment, leading to the fatal incident.

Moore was taken back to the mining site by Kamara for inspection, but was later found dead on the bank of the Lofa River with body parts extracted. Judge Wesseh cited the new penal code of Liberia, which allows for death or life imprisonment for those convicted of murder, in sentencing Kamara to life imprisonment.

The defense lawyer plans to appeal before the full bench of the Supreme Court. The County Attorney for Cape Mount commended the court for delivering justice for the family of the deceased.
