Monrovia Business school has opened a three day intensive digital Security awareness and training in the Country.
Under the theme: Strengthening digital Security readiness in Liberia’s security sector, the gathering brought together scores of Security personnel in and around the Country.
Serving as keynote speaker, Deputy Foreign minister for international cooperation and economic integration Dr. Ibrahim Al- Bakri said digital Security is a primary issue that needs to be integrated for the benefit of the Country.
He stated that digital Security is new but very important field in the information communication and technology sector because of increasing threats which has engulfed due to increasing used of the digital space daily.
Due to daily threats, Dr. Nyei rally calls for Liberians to see digital Security very key as they do their physical security.
He hailed the Monrovia Business School for such a meaningful training and awareness which he stated is key to the Country.
” I am very excited about the establishment of the Monrovia Business school and it is a personal delight that MBS will provide specialized training in order for people to acquire basic skills in entrepreneurship, financial management including all aspects of business “, he added.
Deputy Minister Nyei stressed that in order to drive any economy one of things needed is a strong, skill, competent and integral private sector , “a skillful private sector that will adequately drive the economy “, he re-emphasized.
As a result of such crucial importance, several government entities he pointed out are now migrating from manual to digital information and data base system respectively.
“The government has also launched an online procurement system where information of big companies will be stored for future purposes “, he noted.
He encouraged the participants to take very seriously the digital Security and awareness training which is very essential to their various institutions and the Country in general.
He told the trainees when they are well trained in digital Security, they will help in combating digital threats especially from hickers who used their unlawful acts for blackmailing purpose, the hicking of election systems and the spreading of misinformation intended to shape public opinions amongst others.
Meanwhile , the training with focus on the security sector is key as participants after the rigorous training process are expected to be certificated.
Liberia is gradually moving towards improving digitally as such, The justice sector needs to be aware of those digital threats in a move to have them addressed appropriately.
