President Boakai, Turkish President Erdoğan Hold High-Level Talks to Deepen Liberia–Türkiye Partnership

Ankara, Republic of Türkiye – July 10, 2026 – President Joseph Nyuma Boakai, Sr. on Friday held high-level bilateral talks with President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan of the Republic of Türkiye, as the two leaders pledged to strengthen diplomatic relations and expand economic and development cooperation between their countries.

The meeting took place at the Presidential Complex in Ankara during President Boakai’s official working visit to Türkiye, where he was received by President Erdoğan for discussions on enhancing the longstanding relationship between Liberia and Türkiye.

According to the Executive Mansion, the two leaders reviewed existing bilateral ties and explored new opportunities for collaboration across several strategic sectors, including trade and investment, infrastructure development, agriculture, healthcare, education, energy, technical cooperation, and capacity building.

The discussions also covered regional and international issues of mutual concern, with both Presidents underscoring the importance of continued cooperation in promoting peace, stability, and sustainable development.

President Boakai expressed appreciation for the cordial relationship that has existed between Liberia and Türkiye, while reaffirming his administration’s commitment to expanding partnerships that support Liberia’s ARREST Agenda for Inclusive Development.

The Liberian leader emphasized that Liberia remains open to foreign investment and is continuing to strengthen its policy and regulatory environment to attract responsible investors.

He encouraged Turkish companies to explore investment opportunities in sectors including energy, transportation, agriculture, manufacturing, mining, tourism, and other industries capable of creating jobs and stimulating long-term economic growth.

President Erdoğan welcomed Liberia’s efforts to improve governance, strengthen its investment climate, and accelerate economic transformation.

According to the Executive Mansion, the Turkish President reaffirmed his country’s readiness to deepen cooperation with Liberia through expanded trade, increased investment, technical assistance, and development partnerships designed to deliver mutual benefits.

In addition to the bilateral meeting, President Boakai is holding separate engagements with Turkish business leaders and investors to showcase Liberia’s investment potential and encourage greater private sector participation in the country’s priority sectors.

The Executive Mansion said those discussions are expected to open new avenues for commercial partnerships that will contribute to Liberia’s long-term economic development.

President Boakai is accompanied on the visit by Minister of State Without Portfolio Hadja Mamaka Bility, National Security Advisor Samuel Kofi Woods, and other senior government officials.

The President is expected to conclude his official engagements in Türkiye before returning to Liberia.
