KMTV-USA CEO Cyrus McGee Elected President Of ALJA Midwest Chapter
Minneapolis, Minnesota – March 29, 2026— The Chief Executive Officer of KMTV-USA, Cyrus Joel McGee, has been elected President of the Midwest Chapter of the Association of Liberian Journalists in the Americas (ALJA).
ALJA serves as the umbrella organization for former and current Liberian journalists residing in the United States.
Mr. McGee was unanimously elected during the chapter’s first meeting of 2026, filling the vacancy created following the elevation of former Chapter President, Success Minor, to the position of National Secretary General of ALJA.
In his acceptance remarks, Mr. McGee expressed gratitude to members of the chapter for the trust and confidence placed in him. He pledged to work collaboratively with fellow officers and members to strengthen the chapter and elevate its impact.
“Our chapter has the current National President, National Secretary General, and Board Chairman respectively. As such, we are the focal point of the national leadership, and we must remain vigilant,” McGee stated.
Earlier, ALJA National President Joey Kennedy commended the Midwest Chapter for what he described as a smooth and orderly transition from the acting team. He encouraged the newly elected president to prioritize unity, expand membership, and re-engage inactive members within the region.
Mr. Kennedy also pledged the full support of the ALJA National Leadership and Board in ensuring the continued success of the Midwest Chapter.
Meanwhile, the outgoing Acting President who is now the Vice President of the Midwest chapter, Ms. Vivian Naeyamah Cooper, expressed appreciation to members for the opportunity to serve during the transition period. She urged continued cooperation and support for the incoming leadership to ensure a successful tenure.
The ALJA Midwest Chapter remains a key pillar within the organization, playing a significant role in advancing the mission and objectives of Liberian journalists and media practitioners across the United States.
