Second Lady of Liberia Synleseh Stephenie Dahn-Koung, will host the inaugural Conference on the Status of Women with Disabilities in Liberia on Wednesday, March 5, 2025, at the Basketball Gymnasium, Samuel Kanyon Doe Sports Complex, Paynesville City.
This landmark event will bring together women with disabilities, policymakers, civil society organizations, and key stakeholders to address the pressing challenges faced by women with disabilities in Liberia.
The conference will focus on critical issues, including education, healthcare, economic empowerment, accessibility, inclusion, domestic violence, abuse, and the rule of law.
Additionally, the conference will provide a platform for women with disabilities to share their experiences, voice their concerns, and engage directly with government agencies and other relevant institutions.
“This event is not just a discussion but a call to action,” said Madam Dahn-Koung. “We aim to ensure that women with disabilities are seen, heard, and included in national policies and development programs”, she added.
At the same time, The program will feature panel discussions, keynote addresses, and strategic planning sessions to develop concrete recommendations for advancing the rights and opportunities of women with disabilities in Liberia.
She used the ocassion to encourage Media representatives, advocacy groups, and the general public to attend and support such significant initiative.
Meanwhile, Madam Dahn-Koung has pledged to make the ocassion an annual event, ensuring sustained advocacy and progress for women with disabilities in Liberia indicating further that the conference aligns with Liberia’s national vision for equality and global commitments to disability rights, marking a new chapter in the fight for inclusion and empowerment.
