The House of Representatives is set to host a Legislative Engagement Retreat under the theme: Unity, Integrity, and Modernization.
The retreat is scheduled to take place from Thursday, March 13, to Saturday, March 15, 2025, at the Farmington Hotel in Margibi County.
The event will be graced by distinguished guests, including Rt. Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, Speaker of the 9th Parliament of the Republic of Ghana, and Ibrahim Rassin Bundu, Majority leader in the Parliament of the Republic of Sierra Leone.
According to the house, Their presence underscores the importance of regional parliamentary collaboration and experience-sharing.
At the same time, The Liberia Council of Churches will also form part of the retreat as stakeholders.
The primary objective of the retreat is to highlight the critical role of unity within the House of Representatives in strengthening democracy and upholding the rule of law.
As part of the event, The House’s Chairpersons on Executive Sekou S. Kanneh and Reconciliation, Ellen Attoh-Wreh will emphasize the necessity of teamwork in achieving shared goals aimed at enhancing both institutional and national democratic credentials.
By fostering legislative unity, the House seeks to ensure that the first branch of government will effectively contribute to Liberia’s growth and development and the building of a prosperous society.
During this significant legislative gathering, the esteemed West African Speakers will share their experiences and insights on parliamentary oversight.
Moreover, Discussions will also focus on how their respective parliaments handle accountability, transparency, and good governance issues, particularly in relation to both individual and institutional integrity.
