The National elections commision is said to be concluding formalities ahead of the Senatorial Bi- elections in Nimba County.
Paving the way for a smooth and unhindered democratic process late April, top officials of the NEC were seen clearing its warehouses to create space for the storing of materials for the ongoing Bi- election in Nimba County.
As part of said drive , The National Elections Commission led by Its Co- Chairperson Cllr. P. Tepleh Reeves on Thursday April 3, 2025 embarked upon a one day vigorus exercise of burning all unwanted Electoral materials including ballot papers from the most recent 2023 general Elections.
The one day exercise took place in Bensonville City, where the National Elections Commission magisterial office for upper Montserrado County is situated.
According to the NEC, the Thursday’s exercise is in line with the Constitution of Liberia.
As part of openess and transparency in the process, the exercise was vividly witnessed by key actors and stakeholders to include the NEC’s Magisterate for Upper Montserrado County, James Kolubah Govergo Cordor, Police and Fire Service Officers, representative of Montserrado Superintendent, among others.
At the same time the Co. NEC- Chairperson Cllr. Reeves was ably assisted and accompanied during the burning of the unwanted electoral materials by: Commissioners Boakai A. Dukuly, Barsee Leo Kpangbai – Chairperson, Steering Committee, Nimba By-election and Josephine Kou Gaye.
Meanwhile, as seven candidates in the upcoming by- Election in Nimba County continue their campaign processes, the NEC has reiterated the need for all supporters of the seven candidates to remain peaceful and civil during these Electoral period.
NEC has also reassured the supporters, candidates and Liberians in general of a Free, Fair, credible and transparent Senatorial Bi- Elections process in Nimba County.
