Monrovia, Liberia – The civil‑society coalition The Green Revolution of Liberia has commended Mr. Simeon Freeman the political leader of the Movement for Progressive Change (MPC), for what it called a “rare, bold, and people‑centered innovation” aimed at alleviating Liberia’s long‑standing transportation crisis.

According to the statement, Freeman has arranged for the import of 25 to 30 large American school buses, each capable of carrying about 30 passengers, with the explicit goal of providing affordable, safe, and reliable transport for ordinary Liberians.

The Green Revolution hailed the move as leadership in action, asserting that it “rejects the dangerous culture where politicians insist on capturing state power before alleviating the suffering of the people.”

Power should follow service—not precede it,” the statement read. “Hon. Simeon Freeman has broken a historical chain of political deception and set a new standard for people‑driven leadership.”

Liberia’s public‑transport network, dominated by privately owned minibusses (“taxi‑buses”) and a sparse fleet of government‑run buses, has long been criticized for overcrowding, unsafe driving practices, and erratic schedules.

The World Bank’s 2024 transport sector review estimated that over 60 % of commuters in the Greater Monrovia area rely on informal operators, many of whom charge up to $2 per trip – a steep price for many households earning the national minimum wage of $2.15 per day.
