Monrovia, Liberia — Bomi County Senator Edwin Snowe has urged President Joseph Boakai to issue a formal apology to the National Legislature following accusations that his recent State of the Nation Address contained misleading information.
Snowe argued that the discrepancies between the data presented and current realities could hinder effective governance and erode trust between the Executive and Legislative branches.
Appearing on OK FM Tuesday, Senator Snowe highlighted the gravity of the issue, stating that the President’s reliance on “inaccurate or misleading data” undermines lawmakers’ ability to make informed decisions.
The State of the Nation Address is a cornerstone of our democratic process, shaping policy priorities and legislative action,” he said.
“Presenting information that does not reflect the true state of the country is not only unfair to the legislature but also detrimental to national progress.”
Snowe emphasized that an official apology is essential to restore confidence in the government’s transparency and accountability.
He further called on President Boakai to take decisive action against officials and advisors allegedly responsible for providing the faulty data.
Holding individuals accountable is critical to preventing future recurrences and ensuring the accuracy of information that fuels national governance,” he added.
The Senator’s remarks underscore a broader concern over the integrity of data used in high-level policymaking.
Accurate information, he stressed, is vital for crafting effective legislation, managing public resources, and addressing the nation’s challenges.
