The Deputy Managing Director for Administration at the (LAA), John Buway, is leading a senior management team on a nationwide tour to inspect airstrips and engage local authorities in efforts to protect the institution’s properties.
Speaking Tuesday in Lofa County, Buway said the visit marks the beginning of several days of assessment activities across , , , and . The initiative aims to evaluate the condition of airstrips and address concerns about encroachment on LAA properties.
“Our first stop today was at Tenebu Airstrip near ,” Buway disclosed. “The runway is approximately 5,000 feet long and has a nice terminal building, but there are only two LAA staff assigned there.”
The team is expected to travel to on Wednesday morning to continue inspections before proceeding to Nimba County and other southeastern counties listed on the tour.
According to Buway, beyond infrastructure assessment, the delegation will meet with local government authorities to solicit support in preventing and mitigating encroachment on LAA-owned properties across the country.
He noted that the broader objective of the exercise is to secure the Authority’s assets nationwide and align with the Government of Liberia’s ARREST Agenda.
The tour underscores renewed efforts by the LAA management to strengthen oversight of rural airstrips and ensure that aviation infrastructure remains protected and functional.
