Monrovia City Corporation Conducts All-Day Malaria Testing for Employees in Partnership With Wellness Partners Clinic, Launches Six-Community Outreach Ahead of World Malaria Day
MONROVIA- The Monrovia City Corporation (MCC) on Monday conducted an all-day malaria testing, screening, and treatment exercise for its employees, marking the start of an expanded public health campaign that will extend free services to six communities across the capital beginning Tuesday.
The initiative, organized by the MCC’s Public Safety Directorate under Director General Clarence Siafa Lasana in collaboration with the Health and Human Services Unit led by Director Seyetta Doman Kpadeh and Manager Benetta Gardea, was implemented in partnership with Wellness Partners Clinic, Monrovia Urban Lab, and Sea Suites Complex.
MCC officials said the exercise is aimed at promoting employee health and overall wellbeing while reinforcing prevention as a core component of the city’s anti-malaria strategy.
Monrovia City Mayor John Charuk Siafa participated in the exercise and was among the first to be tested and treated for malaria, an act city officials described as leadership by example.
In a brief interview, Mayor Siafa underscored environmental sanitation as a critical preventive measure against the disease.
“This is not just about treatment, but prevention,” the mayor said, urging residents to take responsibility for maintaining clean and safe surroundings to curb malaria transmission.
The MCC recognized the medical team for its professionalism during the staff screening.
The team included registered nurses Mataline Capehart and Thomas L. Collins Jr., and Dr. Samson Jaffa. Officials credited their work as central to the success of the initiative.
