MONROVIA, Liberia — The Chairman of the ruling Unity Party Rev. Luther Tarpeh has called for an end to what he described as a culture of complacency in Liberian football, urging a national shift from celebrating effort to demanding results from the men’s senior national team, the Lone Star.
Speaking Tuesday at the Ministry of Information’s regular press briefing in Monrovia, Rev. Tarpeh, in his capacity as Chair for Mobilization said, the country must abandon satisfaction with symbolic achievements and adopt a winning mentality.
Tarpeh said fans, stakeholders, and the government must collectively raise expectations for the Lone Star squad.
He reported that the mobilization team has completed key preparatory work aimed at rallying nationwide support ahead of upcoming fixtures.
The initiatives, he said, include fan engagement drives, logistical coordination, and morale-boosting campaigns intended to secure a strong home advantage for the national team.
Calling the moment a turning point for Liberia’s sports culture, Tarpeh urged Liberians to match the team’s preparedness with equal public commitment. Performance, not participation, defines success,” he said.
