Brooklyn Park to Host Civic Engagement Workshop Focused on Leadership and Public Service

Brooklyn Park, Minn. – The City of Brooklyn Park is inviting residents to participate in the second session of its Civic Engagement Education Series, an interactive program designed to encourage community involvement, develop leadership skills, and educate residents about local government.

The event will take place on Thursday, July 16, at North Hennepin Community College’s Helling Hall in the CBT Building, where participants will have the opportunity to learn firsthand about civic leadership and public service.

According to the City of Brooklyn Park, the session will focus on leadership through service and highlight the critical role city commissions play in shaping policies, programs, and the future of the community.

Attendees will hear from a panel of current Brooklyn Park city commissioners and youth leaders from the Brooklyn Bridge Alliance for Youth (BBAY), who will share their personal experiences in civic leadership, community service, and working to create positive change within the city.

As part of the program, participants will also take part in a Mock City Commission Challenge, an interactive exercise designed to give residents hands-on experience with the decision-making process used by city commissions.

City officials say the workshop is intended for anyone interested in becoming more engaged in their community, whether by serving on a city commission, developing leadership skills, or gaining a better understanding of how local government operates.

The Civic Engagement Education Series is part of Brooklyn Park’s ongoing efforts to strengthen community participation by equipping residents with the knowledge and practical experience needed to become active civic leaders.

The city encourages residents of all backgrounds and experience levels to attend and learn how they can play a meaningful role in shaping the future of Brooklyn Park through public service and community engagement.
