President Joseph Nyuma Boakai, Sr., has sent a congratulatory message to the Government and people of the Federal Republic of Germany on the occasion commemorating Germany Unification Day.
According to a Foreign Ministry release, President Boakai on behalf of the Government and people of Liberia, and in his own name, extended sincere felicitations to Frank-Walter Steinmeier, President of the Federal Republic of Germany and through him, to the Government and People of the Federal Republic of Germany as they celebrate this auspicious day.
The Liberian leader stressed that as Liberia joins Germany in celebrating this historic occasion, his government reflects on the global significance of the occasion which symbolizes the strong will of the German people and the whole of humanity in the pursuit of self-determination, unity, peace and oneness of all people in different nation-states.
President Boakai also used the occasion to reflect on the longstanding bilateral relations between Liberia and Germany.He furthered that the relationship which was built on genuine partnership and shared values has resulted in tremendous support for the political, social, and economic development of the nation. “We hope to direct our bilateral relations to cooperation spheres such as agriculture, road, rule of law, education, sanitation, and tourism”, the Liberian leader said.
President Boakai also expressed gratitude to the people and Government of Germany and recommended that both nations progressively enhance the existing bilateral relations with special emphasis on development cooperation.
He then prayed that the bilateral ties between the two countries will continue to grow from strength to strength for the benefit of the two governments and peoples.
He then extended best wishes for President Frank-Walter Steinmeler personal well-being and continued peace and prosperity for the people of Germany.
