Hardship and increasing poverty in Liberia continue to deprive several young people of pursuing their goals and dreams in life.
Well with a skeleton hope of a better tomorrow, some young people reluctantly and coercingly engaged into hard labor and or work just to earn a living.
Like other communities, Towns and Cities as well as Counties across the Country, the future leaders of Liberia are now braving the storm, ignoring current challenges of life, including excuses just to survive.
One of such hard labor activities especially its amateur nature is car washing.
According to some young men on the Kakata Highway, life is getting increasingly challenging as such they have no option but to wash cars for people just to survive.
“We don’t even have money to go to school, so all we do is to wash cars and first find food to eat”, they narrated.
The situation, however, caught the attention of former Presidential Aide, Sekou Kalasco Damaro who was heading to Kakaka City , Margibi County few weeks ago and made a stop at the amateur car washing site where the young guys normally fetch for their daily bread.
Talking to them and hearing their touching stories, Sekou said he shared their pains and struggles and pledged to assist them.
As part of his assistance, Mr. Damaro haven observed the amateur manner and form in which the young guys wash cars, promise to provide a modern car washing machine for them.
As a Humanatarian with a focus on sustainability, the former presidential aide also added an educational package to the young guys assistance by ensuring that they enroll in school in order to create a better society for tomorrow.
Fulfilling his commitment to them, the young guys are currently in school, learning in order to contribute to the larger society.
” I am overjoyed today to witness these young men dressed in their uniforms, ready to embark on this new educational adventure, May God grant us the strength to continue such endeavor in creating a better society “, Sekou posted on his social media page.
He told our reporter via mobile phone that education is key and the best empowerment tool to give to anyone something he is committed to the core.
“I passed here and spoke with the determine young guys and promise them and today, I am Fulfilling my promise to them”, he re-emphasized.
At the same time, Sekou encouraged the young guys to make maximun use of the opportunity in order for them to be marketable in the larger society tomorrow.
Meanwhile, the happy, proud and determined young guys hailed Mr. Damaro for his timely intervention in their lives stating that fulfilling his commitment to them is a testament of a good leader who loves and cares for his people especially whne they are in need.
The happy beneficiries, former car washers now serious students promise to make maximun use of the opportunity afforded them in order to make a change in the society tomorrow.
