Youth and Sports Minister Cllr. Jeror Cole Bangalu has emphasized the government’s unwavering commitment to youth and sports development across the country.
Speaking during a fundraising event for the construction of a mini sports stadium in the Peace Island community, Minister Bangalu described the Peace Island Mini Sports Pitch as a valuable community-driven initiative and assured residents of continued government collaboration to ensure its completion.
According to him, The Mini Sports Pitch Project aims to provide a dedicated recreational space for young people in the community and will include a children’s play area, a mini soccer field, and other amenities to promote physical activity and social engagement.
Demonstrating practical will in a drive to help improve sports infrastructure across the Country, the government as part of its ongoing development effort within the sector donated five thousand United States Dollars for the construction of a mini sports pitch project in the Peace Island Community.
The move is also part of efforts intended to support grassroots sports development.
The donation was officially presented during the community’s fundraising and project launch event.
The contribution was made on behalf of the chief Patron of Sports, President Joseph Nyumah Boakai.
The donation was initially received by Ambassador-at-Large for Youth and Sports Development, Alioune Kebe, from the Office of the Ministry of State through Minister Mamaka Bility.
As part of the initiative, Ambassador Kebe then handed over the funds to the Minister of Youth and Sports, Cllr. Jeror Cole Bangalu, who subsequently presented the contribution to the Peace Island community on behalf of President Boakai.
The government latest move within the populated Peace Island community was embraced and greeted with high appreciation from local residents.
They commended the Liberian leader and his government for such initiative which upon completion of said project will help give a face lift to the community including improving sports infrastructure development and recreational activities within the community.
