CHAMPLIN, Minnesota – August 16, 2026 – Charles Boakai, a compliance professional, husband, father, and community advocate, has formally introduced himself to voters as a candidate for Champlin City Council – Ward 4, promising a campaign centered on service, accountability, transparency, and stronger representation for residents.
In a campaign post titled “Meet Charles Boakai,” Boakai outlined his professional background, family values, and reasons for seeking public office, saying he wants to bring responsible and community-focused leadership to the Champlin City Council.
“My journey has been shaped by a strong commitment to service, integrity, accountability, and helping people succeed,” Boakai said.
Brings Compliance and Financial Experience
Boakai said his professional career has included work with several major institutions, including the U.S. Small Business Administration, U.S. Bank, and Wells Fargo.
He has served in positions including Senior Compliance Analyst and Regulatory Compliance Officer, experiences he says have strengthened his understanding of financial accountability, regulatory compliance, responsible leadership, and the importance of protecting the interests of families, individuals, and businesses.
Boakai also holds two degrees, one in Criminal Justice and another in Pre-Law and Public Policy.
He said his professional experience has taught him that effective leadership requires listening, transparency, close attention to detail, and the ability to make responsible decisions.
According to Boakai, those are the same values he hopes to bring to the Champlin City Council.
Family at Center of Campaign
Boakai also emphasized his role as a husband and father, describing his family as his greatest motivation for seeking to strengthen the community.
He and his wife have three children — Charles, Siah, and Ernest.
“As a father, I want my children and every child in Champlin to grow up in a community that is safe, welcoming, economically strong, and full of opportunities,” he said.
Boakai said he envisions a city where families can thrive, small businesses can expand, seniors feel secure, and young people see opportunities for a successful future.
Says Ward 4 Needs Leadership That Listens
Explaining his decision to run, Boakai said Ward 4 residents deserve a council representative who listens to their concerns, collaborates with others, and places residents at the center of decision-making.
“I am running for the Champlin City Council because I believe Ward 4 deserves leadership that listens, collaborates, and puts residents first,” he said.
Boakai’s candidacy adds another voice to Champlin’s local political landscape as candidates begin making their case to voters ahead of the upcoming municipal election.
His introductory campaign message places particular emphasis on his professional experience in compliance and accountability, his commitment to family and community, and his pledge to ensure that Ward 4 residents have a meaningful voice at City Hall.
