Don’t Stop in the Newsroom” — Newsroom Professional and DUBAWA Fact-Checker Lee Monjue Challenges Young Liberian Journalists to Combine Field Experience with Higher Education for Professional Excellence, Integrity and Global Influence

Monrovia, Liberia- Newsroom professional and trained fact-checker Lee Monjue is urging young and emerging journalists to pursue higher education to strengthen their knowledge and professional capacity.
Monjue, who conducts fact checks for DUBAWA and is a former Kear Radio News Director, described journalism as a responsible, respectable, and influential profession that provides opportunities to interact with leaders and people from diverse backgrounds.
He said journalists can use their profession to travel, engage national and international figures, and report stories that contribute to public discourse and society.
However, Monjue cautioned young journalists not to become satisfied with newsroom opportunities while neglecting formal education and professional development.
He noted that although practical newsroom experience teaches valuable skills, higher education can broaden journalists’ understanding, strengthen their analytical abilities, and prepare them for greater responsibilities.
Monjue therefore encouraged young journalists to keep reporting, learning, asking questions, and improving themselves while pursuing knowledge, integrity, and purpose in their careers
