Foreign Minister Nyanti Unveils Plans for Liberia to Host Major Pan-African Conference in 2027, Promises Diaspora Representation and Launch of Diaspora Youth Connect Within 60 Days

MARYLAND, USA – Minister of Foreign Affairs, H.E. Sara Beysolow Nyanti, has announced that Liberia is in discussions to host a major Pan-African Conference in 2027 as part of the country’s commitment to Africa’s Agenda 2063.
Speaking at the Liberian Diaspora Town Hall Meeting, Minister Nyanti reaffirmed Liberia’s strong Pan-African credentials under President Joseph Nyuma Boakai, Sr.
“Agenda 2063 is the blueprint that all 55 member states of the African Union have agreed to as the vision for the continent.
It is not just about waiting until 2063; there are milestones and objectives to achieve along the way.
Pan-Africanism is at the root of it, and Liberia is definitely part of it. The President is a strong Pan-Africanist,” she stated.
According to the Foreign Minister, discussions are already underway, with Liberia positioning itself to host the continental gathering next year.
She assured Liberians in the diaspora that they will be kept informed as plans progress.
On the long-standing demand by diaspora Liberians for representation at the capital, Minister Nyanti said the Ministry is taking the matter seriously.
She disclosed that the issue will be taken up with the Foreign Affairs Committees of both the Liberian Senate and the House of Representatives to explore how it can be advanced.
She also addressed concerns about youth engagement between Liberians at home and abroad, announcing that the much-anticipated Diaspora Youth Connect platform, which was scheduled to be launched this weekend, will now be launched within the next 30 to 60 days.
“The platform will provide an opportunity for youth abroad and youth at home to connect, collaborate, and contribute to national development,” she said.
The announcement was met with applause from participants at the Town Hall, many of whom have long advocated for greater inclusion of the diaspora in Liberia’s governance and development agenda.
