Women and Girls in local communities now have renewed hope following the launch of the Mary Abigail Foundation.
Named and styled the Mary Abigail Foundation, The new initiative which among other things aims to empower and improve the lives of the vulnerable population across the Country.
Speaking at the launching ceremony, young female advocate Mary Abigail Logan h underscored the importance of empowering young women and girls across the country.
She also called on national leaders to give more attention to young women and girls in order for them to realize heir full potential.
MAF for short as part of its plans, promise to empower women and girls including building their capabilities as well as giving them voice through advocating effectively for their welfare.
According to her, the education and development of these young future female leaders is key to the Country.
Speaking at the launch of the Mary Abigail Foundation ,the young Executive Director of MAF who promised to change the horrible narratives experienced by her peers also challenged national leaders to prioritize the development of women and girls across Liberia.
” I feel sad to hear that some young women and girls are being used as sex slaves and workers just to survive but it is about time to change the image of vulnerability of these young women and girls “, she maintained.
Using her story to motivate others, Mary stated that that the time to break the circle of deprivation and poverty is now.
“Experiencing hard times in my life journey as a child with poverty , vulnerability and marginalization, I made a personal decision to be a force to change the narratives of life especially in the interest of young women and girls”, she added.
According to her, the launch of her foundation is a historic milestone geared towards helping to empower and improve the lives of her peers for the better.
She used the ocassion to rally others to join her in a partnership phase of collective involvement to push and support said endeavor.
“We all need to water this plant to ensure our young women and girls lives are uplifted from low existence to hopes and meaningful interventions”, she re-emphasized.
Also speaking at the launching program, the Executive Director of the Liberia Albino Society, Patricia N.C. Logan lauded the efforts of the young advocate and promised to help support her.
As a means of hitting the ground running , Madam Logan breaking the surprise news to the gathering disclosed the purchase of a land for the Mary Abigail Foundation in Brewerville.
She also pledged one hundred bags of cement and trucks load of sand to begin the Foundation of the humanitarian institution.
Meanwhile, The Humanatarian institution , a non for profit non political organization, among other things mission is to restore and renew smiles on the faces of vulnerable young women and girls across the country.
