Monrovia, Liberia: The plenary of the house of Representatives has requested the leadership of the Liberia Electricity Corporation (LEC), to appear before its leadership on Monday to address itself to the prolonged electricity outage in River Gee County.
It is reported that the County has been without power since February this year leaving businesses, schools, healthcare facilities, and residents struggling with the consequences of the outage.
This lack of electricity has raised concerns about equity and development, particularly as neighboring counties such as Maryland, and Grand Gedeh continue to receive power supply.
The proponent of the communication is River Gee County District #2 Representative, Isaac B. Choloplay Wuo. In his letter, Representative Wuo urged LEC management to provide reasonable explanations for the power disruption and to present a concrete plan for restoring electricity to the county.
His move underlines the need for restoration of electricity and ally threat and fear faced by residents particularly at night.
