“Illegal Burkinabe Presence in Southeast Prompts House Action”

The House of Representatives has voted to invite the heads of several government entities to address the pressing issue of the presence of illegal Burkinabees in the southeastern region of Liberia.
The decision was taken during the plenary session of the 2nd day sitting of the House of Representatives.

The action of plenary was triggered by a communication written by Rep. Anthony F. Williams of Maryland County, District # 2.

In his communication, Rep. Williams noted that the presence of illegal Burkinabees in the Southeast has been a growing concern, and Reports have indicated that their unauthorized presence may be linked to various activities that could potentially undermine the region’s security, social fabric, and economic stability.

Cited to appear before the Plenary on Tuesday (May 20th, 2025) are the leadership of the following institutions:
Liberia Refugee Repatriation and Resettlement Commission (LRRRC), Ministry of Justice (MOJ), Liberia National Police (LNP), Liberia Immigration Service (LIS), Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA), Ministry of Agriculture (MOA), and Forestry Development Authority (FDA).
