Jmass CEO Peter Massaquoi Calls for Unity Through Sports at Margibi Tournament Launch

Business executive Peter Massaquoi, CEO of the Jmass Group of Companies, has called for stronger community bonds through sports as he delivered the keynote address at the launch of a two-month unity tournament in Dolo’s Town, Margibi County.

The tournament, organized by the Anthony Kpayea Foundation in observance of Unification Day, brought together athletes, community leaders, and residents in a celebration aimed at promoting togetherness and empowerment through sport.

Speaking on the theme “Unity Through Sport,” Massaquoi described the event as an opportunity for community members to gather not only as competitors and spectators but as partners committed to shared progress.

“It is an incredible honour to stand before you as we celebrate Unification Day through the power of sport,” he said, emphasizing that sports serve as a universal language capable of bridging social and cultural divides while fostering a sense of belonging.

Massaquoi highlighted the broader societal value of athletics, noting that competition often sets aside differences and encourages teamwork, excellence, and mutual support. He commended the Anthony Kpayea Foundation for creating a platform that promotes connection and growth, stressing that the tournament is about more than winning trophies.

“This is not just about medals; it is about building relationships that strengthen our community. Each moment of encouragement reinforces the idea that we are stronger together,” he stated.

The Jmass Group CEO also reflected on historical examples where sports have inspired unity and social change—from international competitions like the Olympics to grassroots initiatives that uplift local communities.

He urged participants to embrace sportsmanship throughout the tournament, reminding athletes that they represent not only themselves but also their families and communities. According to him, the greatest victories will be measured in friendships formed, barriers broken, and lives impacted rather than scorelines.

Massaquoi further encouraged attendees to respect one another and use the tournament as a chance to connect across backgrounds and experiences.

“As we engage in friendly competition, let us carry the essence of togetherness in our hearts—cheer for your teammates, support your opponents, and celebrate every effort,” he added.

Concluding his address, Massaquoi called on residents to honor the vision of the Anthony Kpayea Foundation by continuing to build bridges of understanding beyond the tournament.

The unity sports tournament is expected to run for two months, providing a space for athletes and community members to promote peace, collaboration, and lasting social ties in Margibi County.
