Manager Emmanuel Tophic Degleh Earns Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology

Emmanuel Tophic Degleh, Manager of Classic FM and Secretary General of the Liberia Community Radio Association, has successfully earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Sociology, marking a significant milestone in his academic and professional journey.

Graduation is often viewed as the end of an academic pursuit, but for Degleh, it represents a powerful victory of perseverance over hardship, sacrifice over limitation, and courage over doubt. This achievement was earned through a rigorous academic process under the demanding administration of Dr. Maparyan, where endurance and commitment became the true measure of success. The journey required discipline, resilience, sleepless nights, and unwavering determination.

Behind this accomplishment lies a deeper story rooted in family sacrifice and unwavering faith. Degleh dedicates this achievement to his late mother, Ma Marpu, whose dreams for education were far greater than the opportunities life afforded her. Though she did not live to witness this moment, her sacrifices remain the invisible pillars upon which this success stands. Among her seven children, she fought relentlessly against life’s challenges so that education would serve as a bridge from struggle to dignity.

This milestone carries both pride and reflection. As one of the last two children she struggled tirelessly to educate, family circumstances reshaped part of their shared dream when a younger sister discontinued her academic journey after early motherhood, choosing instead the honorable responsibility of raising her child. Such realities underscore that success within a family is never individual but is shaped by collective struggle and shared sacrifice.

Degleh’s academic path has been long and demanding. After graduating high school, he advanced to earn an Associate Degree before completing his Bachelor’s Degree. His journey spanned many years of persistence, professional responsibility, financial challenges, and personal trials. Despite moments of uncertainty and exhaustion, faith remained constant, and through determination, the journey reached completion.

He also pays tribute to his father, Dad Sam Degleh, whose strength and parental sacrifice carried the family through difficult seasons. He acknowledges the unwavering support of his elder siblings Joseph Nyephan Jr., James Nyephan, Ruth Seboh Patience Nyephan, Eastermay Gbollie, and Gretel Susannah Degleh, emphasizing that this achievement belongs to the entire family.

Looking ahead, Degleh views this graduation not as an ending but as the beginning of a greater academic horizon. He aspires to pursue postgraduate studies, with the long-term goal of earning a Master’s and Doctoral degree. This accomplishment stands as a generational milestone, opening doors for his family and those who will come after him.

He extends sincere appreciation to Senator Emmanuel Nuquay, Hon. Clarence G. Gahr, Mrs. Precious Gbah, J. Solunta Smith Jr., his Classic FM family, and all who supported him throughout the journey.

Today, this achievement symbolizes more than academic success. It reflects survival, sacrifice, faith, resilience, and legacy. To Ma Marpu and Dad Sam Degleh, this honor is dedicated.
