MARGIBI SUPERINTENDENT WELCOMES PRESIDENT BOAKAI AT $1.6M MODEL SCHOOL COMMISSIONING IN KAKATA.

Kakata, – Liberia — The Superintendent of Margibi County, , has warmly welcomed the President of Liberia, , during the official commissioning of a newly constructed $1.6 million senior secondary model school in Kakata.

The event, held in the bustling city of Kakata, marked a significant milestone in the government’s efforts to strengthen the education sector and improve access to quality learning across Liberia. Speaking at the ceremony, President Boakai declared, “We will not eat the country’s future,” emphasizing his administration’s commitment to long-term national development, accountability, and better living standards for Liberians.

In his welcoming remarks, Superintendent Morris Jr. expressed profound gratitude on behalf of the people of Margibi County, noting that it was an honor to receive the President. He described Kakata as one of the country’s busiest cities—“a city that doesn’t sleep”—and highlighted the county’s appreciation for the government’s continued support to education.

Superintendent Morris Jr. praised the President for prioritizing educational development, including the upgrading of institutions such as , which he said is now enabling more students to pursue higher education within the county rather than traveling elsewhere.

He further disclosed that under the government’s School for Excellence Program, three modern schools have already been constructed in Margibi, with additional institutions planned across education districts. He also announced that the school feeding program is expected to expand within the county, bringing further relief and support to students.

Highlighting recent achievements, Morris thanked President Boakai for approving Margibi as a host center for technical training initiatives and for supporting local governance through decentralization programs that now empower county authorities to actively participate in national development processes.

The Superintendent also acknowledged the government’s efforts in improving teachers’ welfare, noting that many volunteer teachers have been placed on government payroll after years of service. Additionally, he expressed appreciation for the distribution of over 1,000 desks to public schools in the county.

The commissioning of the model school—supported by international partners including the , the , and —is part of Liberia’s broader strategic plan to modernize its education system and provide a conducive learning environment for students.

President Boakai reaffirmed his administration’s plan to construct 400 new schools across the country, with Margibi County among the key beneficiaries. He also emphasized the importance of investing in human capital as a pathway to national growth.

The ceremony brought together senior government officials, including representatives from the Ministry of Education and Ministry of Finance, local leaders, youth and women groups, students, and members of the diplomatic community.

Superintendent Morris Jr. concluded by reiterating the county’s appreciation, stating that the people of Margibi remain committed to supporting the President’s vision for a better Liberia.

“Mr. President, you are welcome to Margibi County, and we thank you for the many developments you continue to bring to our people,” he said.
