Appointed Assistant Superintendent At the Monrovia Consolidated School System Emmanuel Kyne Robertson has claimed legitimacy on his position contrary to claim by the Monrovia Consolidated School System Teachers Association.
Robertson’s latest disclosure came just one day after an Ultimatum by the Monrovia Consolidated School System Teachers Association calling on President Joseph Nyuma Boakai to recall Robertson’s appointment.
According to Robertson, he has all legal rights to serve in the position.
In his letter copy of which is in our posession, gives Robertson the permission to occupy said position following the authorization of members of the board of the MCSS as evidence of their signatures.
But the MCSSTA President al Augustine Nyormui argued that President Boakai’s appointment of Emmanuel Kyne Robertson was in his words a complete administrative error that needs to be corrected.
Addressing a news conference on Wednesday August 14, 2024 , Augustine said that in keeping with chapter 2 Section 24 d of the MCSS 1964 Act squarely places the responsibility of employing all other staff of MCSS, including the Assistant Superintendent, on MCSS Superintendent, or City Superintendent of schools, as
named in the document.
The chapter additionally charges the MCSS Superintendent to follow laid-down procedures in hiring and/or dismissing all staff members, subject to approval by the MCSS Council but on the contrary, President Joseph Nyuma Boakai, Sr. he disclosed appointed Emmanuel Kyne Robertson as a volunteer Assistant Superintendent; in clear violation to the MCSS chapter as indicated in the document.
Speaking further he stressed that the Assistant Superintendent position is clearly a civil servant position, and not a Presidential appointment one; yet,
Samuel M. Johnson was illegally removed and subsequently replaced by Emmanuel Kyne Robertson; who is yet to allegedly receive Presidential appointment letter and has not been placed on MCSS payroll since March of this year, but he continues to occupy, sign major documents, attend
stakeholders meetings, etc while Samuel M. Johnson continues to remain on MCSS payroll as Assistant Superintendent.
According to him, they see such as a flagrant violation of MCSS
1964 chapter.
He claimed that the current letter circulating with signatures of board members is politically motivated nothing that education issues should be ill-popitical.
Following the latest approval by the board of the MCSS even though the MCSSTA said such decision lies exclusively in the preview of the Superintendent proper, it remains unclear as to whether President Boakai will pay heel to the seven days Ultimatum given him by the Monrovia Consolidated School System Teachers Association.
With six working days to go, the leadership and political battle at the MCSS appears far from being over.
