Investigation finds no evidence of narcotics involvement, but raises questions over conduct that could violate public service standards
MONROVIA, Liberia- The Ministry of Justice has concluded that Mr. Biago was not implicated in illegal drug trafficking following a formal investigation, but said its findings uncovered ethical concerns” that may warrant further scrutiny and potential administrative action.
In a Joint Security Meeting Monday, the Ministry said investigators reviewed all available evidence and found no link between Mr. Biago and narcotics trafficking or related criminal activity.
While Mr. Biago was not found to be involved in illegal drug trafficking, the investigation raised some ethical concerns about his conduct.
These concerns may require further review and possible action in accordance with established laws and civil service regulations.
Officials did not specify the nature of the ethical issues identified, citing ongoing internal processes.
However, sources within the Ministry indicated the concerns relate to standards of professional conduct expected of public officials, rather than criminal violations.
The Ministry emphasized that the matter will be forwarded to the appropriate oversight body for additional review to determine whether any policy breaches occurred and what corrective measures, if any, should be taken.
The investigation comes amid heightened public attention on accountability and integrity within government, as the Boakai administration pushes its ARREST Agenda focused on rule of law and anti-corruption.
The Ministry of Justice said it remains committed to upholding due process and ensuring that public officials meet both legal and ethical standards in the discharge of their duties.
