MONROVIA, Montserrado County – Edith Nora Hage, widow of late Lebanese businessman Milad R. Hage, has petitioned the Supreme Court of Liberia and the Liberia National Bar Association to disbar Cllr. Arthur Johnson, accusing him of attempting to tamper with jurors in her daughter’s ongoing estate litigation.
Madam Hage, mother of Nohad Hage Mensah, the eldest child and holder of the oldest deed to the estate, alleges that Johnson’s conduct “improperly influenced jurors and undermined the fairness of proceedings.”
She described the act as a breach of legal ethics that threatens public confidence in the judiciary.
“No lawyer should be allowed to corrupt the judicial process and walk away without consequences,” she stated.
The legal battle centers on an extensive estate left by Milad Hage, who invested in more than 200 shops and stores in Red Light and Kakata.
According to Edith Hage, testimony from grantors and records at the National Archives confirm Nohad’s primacy in inheritance.
She accuses another party, Oumou, of seizing control of Nohad’s rightful properties.
Hage claims Oumou took over 86 shops and stores from the estate since 2015 but now tells the court only three remain.
“This raises serious questions about the missing 83 shops and apartments,” she said, calling for a comprehensive audit and full accounting before the estate can be closed.
Madam Hage also criticized the presiding judge for alleged delays and questioned whether Oumou is receiving undue protection.
She urged the judiciary to act decisively, stressing that lawyers and jurors who ignore evidence must be exposed and sanctioned.
