President Boakai Makes New Appointments In Government to Strengthen Governance

President Joseph Nyuma Boakai, Sr. has made a series of strategic appointments across several government institutions to reinforce good governance, deepen legislative engagement, and improve institutional efficiency.

The appointments affect key entities including the National Fisheries and Aquaculture Authority (NaFAA), Civil Service Agency (CSA), Liberia Electricity Corporation (LEC), and the Presidential Legislative Liaison Office.

President Boakai has reconstituted the Board of the National Fisheries and Aquaculture Authority (NaFAA) with the following statutory members: Minister of Agriculture – Chairperson, Ministry of National Defense – Member, Ministry of Finance and Development Planning – Member, Ministry of Commerce & Industry – Member, the Liberia Maritime Authority – Member and the Director General of NaFAA – Secretary & Ex-Officio

Additionally, four individuals have been appointed as non-statutory members including: Ms. Mary Kwekwe, Mr. George Dixon, Ms. Bernice Alpha and Mrs. Estelle Liberty-Kemoh (Representative, National Aquaculture & Inland Fisheries Federation)

Dr. Puchu Bernard Appointed to CSA Board of Appeal Following the resignation of Hon. Dwight Momolu Harvey and in keeping with Section 66.23 of the Civil Service Agency Act of 1973, the President has appointed Dr. Puchu Leona Bernard to serve on the CSA Board of Appeal.

The appointment was made following vetting and recommendation by the Civil Service Agency.

In response to a formal request from the Board of Directors of the Liberia Electricity Corporation, President Boakai has approved a recomposition of the LEC Board to enhance technical capacity. New appointments include:

“Mr. Albert N. Forh, a seasoned control engineer with over 20 years of experience in mechanical and electrical systems and Hon. Nyan Martin, a distinguished public servant and experienced leader.

These appointments replace Rev. Dr. Samuel Reeves and Cllr. Carlos Smith.

To strengthen coordination between the Executive and the Legislature, President Boakai has appointed two former lawmakers to the Presidential Legislative Liaison Office, Emerson V. Kamara, former Representative of Grand Cape Mount County – Legislative Liaison to the House of Representatives and Sando D. Johnson, former Senator of Bomi County – Legislative Liaison to the Liberian Senate

According to the Executive Mansion, “Both appointees are expected to bring seasoned legislative experience and a deep commitment to national service in advancing the legislative agenda of the Executive.”

President Reaffirms Commitment to Good Governance “These appointments are a reaffirmation of the President’s commitment to good governance, professionalism, and sectoral effectiveness across all branches and functions of government,” the Executive Mansion noted in its statement.

President Boakai has called on all newly appointed officials to serve with diligence, integrity, professionalism, and loyalty to the nation.
