Monrovia, Liberia: In a key move for Liberia’s diplomatic initiatives, President Joseph Nyuma Boakai has officially announced the country’s bid for a non-permanent seat on the United Nations Security Council. He expressed optimism about the campaign, highlighting its strong backing from various international stakeholders.
He commended former president Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, and other officers supporting Liberia’s bid for a non-permanent seat at the UN Security Council.
In another development, President Boakai informed Journalists that his visit to Canada for the 2024 Investment Forum, followed by a trip to the United States for the UN General Assembly, was aimed at addressing the country’s pressing challenges. These challenges include concerns about street children, peace and security, a need for investment, and access to vital services.
“The move was meant to boost our private sector. During our visit, we sought to ensure strong representation for our country. All of these efforts will help to restore confidence in our country, putting Liberia back on the map and creating opportunities for more investment, whilst adding that only by coming together we can work towards a more developed and resilient nation for the future he affirmed”, the Liberian chief executive explained.
He disclosed on Sunday, October 6, 2024, in an interview with executive mansion reporters.
The Liberian leader concluded by thanking citizens for their continued support for the country.
He meanwhile challenged all to work together for the forward match of the Country while noting that for Liberia to thrive once more, we need to take the right actions.
