More condemnations continue to pour in following the SUP’s protest at the Headquarters of the Liberia Football Association in Congo Town.
The latest to join the barrage of condemnations for such lawless action by members of the Students Unification Party is former Youth and Sports Minister D. Zeogar Wilson.
The Former Youth and Sports Minister under whose administration the new LFA’s headquarter project was dedicated condemned the action in the strongest term and calls for prompt investigation into the matter.
Former Minister Wilson in a very disappointing manner and form following the protest by SUP posted on his social media facebook page stating that ” since they cannot defeat Mustapha I. Raji at the ballot box, hooliganism is their best option”.
According to him Mustapha’s record as LFA President speaks for him, “Go find your own record”, he re-emphasized.
Even though he did not mention names but his post according to expert suggest that there could be big and hidden under hands behind the lawless act carried out by SUP militants on Tuesday as such encouraged thorough investigation into the situation to avoid recurrence.
It can be recalled on Tuesday morning, March 18, 2025, militants of the Students Unification Party from the University of Liberia stormed the headquarters of the LFA and forcibly entered the compound, used stones and other dangerous objects and damaged the main office entrance glass doors of the facility, wounded some private security officers assigned at the LFA facility in protest questioning the nationality of the President of the Liberia Football Association Mustapha I. Raji.
The protest by SUP militants at the LFA Headquarters has so far come under strong condemnation even from some of the veterans of the party.
In an interview with our reporter some veterans warned militants not to be used by others to tarnish the good image of the vanguard party at the detriment of a few people.
However, latest reports have it that Police have arrested four of the Protesters as investigation is said to be ongoing , Youth and Sports Minister Jeror Cole Bangalu has vowed to vigorously work with the Ministry of Justice to ensure that those linked to the unfortunate situation at the LFA’s headquarters face the full weight of the law.
Meanwhile, the LFA in its official statement also condemned in the strongest term such action by SUP militants which they stated is unacceptable and undermines the significance gains they have made towards the development of the game in Liberia.
The LFA urged all stakeholders to remain calm and respect the rule of law as they are working along with the Liberia National police to ensure that all responsible parties are held accountable.
