In a dramatic turn of events, sea victims in Robertsport City took matters into their own hands, denying Senator Varney G. Sherman entry and demanding immediate relocation.
Frustrated and deeply affected by the relentless encroachment of the sea, the residents staged a protest in front of City Hall, showcasing their discontent and highlighting their ignored pleas for assistance from Hon. Sherman.
The victims, comprising 305 women and 280 men, with the most vulnerable members being children, now seek relocation to a safer place while their homes are rebuilt.
This urgent plea stems from the fact that the sea encroachment has rendered more than 585 residents homeless in Kru town, Robertsport City.
The magnitude of the situation cannot be ignored or understated.
Responding to the adversity, Senator Varney G. Sherman addressed the situation and mentioned that significant funds have been allocated to the county for the purpose of providing assistance, including food and other vital necessities.
Additionally, he assured the Sea victims that he would personally engage the Liberia Disaster Management Agency, calling upon them to intervene and alleviate this dire situation.
The current state of affairs calls for immediate action and collaboration from all involved parties.
The plight of these Sea victims and their demands for relocation are a pressing reminder of the dire consequences of natural disasters.
“It is crucial for the necessary steps to be taken swiftly, ensuring the safety and well-being of us”, they advised.
