Tweah Fires Back: Ex-Finance Minister Accuses Boakai Administration of Manipulating Judiciary to Set Aside Verdict

BY: Rufus Divine Brooks Jr.

MONROVIA – Former Finance Minister Samuel D. Tweah Jr. has accused the Boakai administration of pressuring the judiciary to reverse his May 8, 2026 acquittal, alleging that prosecutors planted phones with jurors and are pursuing a politically motivated effort to set aside the verdict.

In a social Media post Thursday, Tweah contrasted what he called a “serious government fighting drugs and corruption” with what he described as a “Rescue Government” focused on protecting connected officials and targeting political opponents.

Allegations of post-verdict pressure:

Tweah claims the government is “busy forcing Judge Ousman Feika” to reverse the 9-3 jury acquittal on economic sabotage charges, despite the judge stating he sees no evidence linking Tweah, co-defendants, or defense lawyers to jury misconduct.

He alleges prosecutors planted phones with jurors who voted to convict.

According to Tweah, the juror who filed a misconduct complaint admitted to having a phone but said it was used only to call family.

He notes all jurors told investigators they did not speak with defense lawyers or defendants.

“The government’s charge to the judge is ‘find any law, we are the Government.

The survival of the Government depends on Tweah not winning,’” Tweah wrote, attributing the statement to government actors.

He questioned why jurors did not raise complaints during trial or before the verdict if misconduct occurred.

Tweah also alleged selective prosecution, claiming jurors who unanimously acquitted former LTA boss Abdullah L. Kamara were not sequestered and received money from the government, yet face no investigation because “he is the President’s man.”

Addressing Judge Feika directly, Tweah urged him to hold prosecutors “culpable for attempting to influence the nine Jurors” instead of setting aside an acquittal.

He said he has informed the international community of the developments and declared himself “a free man” who will not accept what he called a “kangaroo manipulation.”

“I am prepared to do battle… David is always on the right side of history! And I remain the fearless grebo warrior,” Tweah stated, adding that “more damning information” would follow next week.

Tweah was acquitted May 8, 2026 by a 9-3 jury vote on charges tied to a $6.2 million national security transfer.

Three jurors who voted guilty previously filed a misconduct affidavit alleging pressure after deliberations.

An investigation into alleged jury tampering is ongoing.
