The United Bank of Africa, Paynesville Branch, has been allegedly linked to bad labor practice.
According to an aggrieved employee of the Bank, Kolee Alexander Musa, he was on January 7, 2025 Flogged on the alleged orders of the Human Resource Officer Arthurline Anderson after he refused to leave the bank premises without a written document or letter of his claimed dismissal.
Molee narrated that he could not have left the bank’s premises only on verbal notes or instructions of his dismissal but needed a written document to show to his lawyer surrounding his dismissal.
“I went to work on Tuesday morning by 7:30am and was later on called by the branch manager Priscilla Manson to leave the office and I asked her why and she said that the HR said I should leave and that I no longer work at the bank and I asked her to have it documented and it was at that time she (Priscilla) placed a phone call to the HR (Madam Anderson) who instructed Priscilla to call the security guys to forcibly take me from the office ” he explained.
He narrated that he was allegedly flogged by the two bank officer’s because he refused to leave the bank’s facility as currently he is feeling pain on his side and head, including other parts of this body.
“Following my flogging , i painfully went to the James Davis Hospital and was advised to do an x-ray on the entire part of my body at a bigger Hospital because the pain is too much, and I don’t know what next will happen to me,” he re-emphasized.
The aggrieved UBA employee who termed the action as bad labor practice also alleged that the situation at the bank is a continuous one, but his colleagues are afraid to speak out for fear of losing their jobs.
“Currently, some of my colleagues are repaying for money they did not personally take from the bank or use, this is sad, and it is time for us to speak out against bad labor practices especially at banks that should be there for both employees and clients and come to think about it, if the employees are not satisfied to work at the bank what becomes of the clients or customers”, he noted.
Even though the Human Resource Officer Arthurline Anderson up to press time refused to pick her calls both on her number as well as WhatsApp including text messges but in a leaked video conversation she was heard loudly instructing the UBA’S Paynesville branch manager Priscilla Manson via mobile flanked by two security officers to forcibly take Kolee out of the office as the officers in the video who were later seen moving aggressively to execute the orders from the HR and UBA’S Paynesville Branch manager against employee Kolee Alexander Musa after the end of the phone conversation between Priscilla Manson and Arthurline Anderson.
Kolee who also admitted to authoritizing the card for one of the clients via the system also challenged the bank to provide video photoge to show whether the customer that came to him was a male or a female.
“They said it was a male that came to me but it was a female and I insist that they show the video photage to know who is saying the truth”, he maintained.
Kolee at the same time argued that the card platform at the bank does not have a provision to see the image and signature of a given customer.
” I also got information which i do not want to believe, but it states alledgelly that the bank is going ahead of me at the Ministry of Labor in an attempt to delay and eventually silence my case, but i pray that is not the case because, the Ministry of Labor should be there for all employees and I am sure they will do the needful, in fact, I will do a formal complain to them today”, he added.
He, at the same time, threatened legal action against the bank and is certain that he will win the case, which will serve as a deterrent for others.
In continuation of our investigation, our reporter placed a phone call to UBA’S Paynesville Branch manager Priscilla Manson who was seen in the video calling the Human Resource Officer Arthurline Anderson to give permission to her to remove Kolee Alexander Musa from the premises of the bank but she referred us to her boss, the Human Resource Officer Arthurline Anderson who she Priscilla stated knows everything about the situation and will be best suited to respond appropriately.
However, Madam Anderson up to press time has refused to respond to our calls and messages both local and social media handles respectively as evidence of our dialed calls and messages are visible in our archives.
Meanwhile, our investigation uncovered according to an anonymous source that Kolee is allegedly not an employee of the Bank but the source did not show a document to justify that something Mr. Musa has since requested but is yet to receive it.
Moreover, our source linked Musa to a transaction with two of his other colleagues, all females, (Fennie Nyanquor and Patience Hill) which led to huge losses in the tune of over 48,000USD.
Even though Musa admitted to such transaction especially his involvement in authorizing the card but insisted that he did nothing wrong and challenged the bank to show video evidence of those who set and or change the pin of the customer who came to him as female but our source insisted that it was a male.
According to our source, two of Musa’s colleagues who were part of the transaction, Fennie Nyanquor and Patience Hill were asked to resign and they did but He Musa stressed that he cant confirm or deny such because they were unable to repay the huge sum of money but he Musa has refused and argued that he did nothing wrong and if the bank insist that he should leave their entity, they should serve him a written dismissal letter but he will not resign on verbal note.
As investigation continues Musa is currently nursing wounds sustained following the flogging by assigned security officers on the alleged orders of the Human Resource Officer Arthurline Anderson whilst hoping for justice to take its course.
