The Government of Liberia through the Ministry of Youth and Sports has instructed the Liberia Football Association to file an official complaint to the the world Football governing body, FIFA over what they described as unfair officiating of the match between Liberia and Tunisia .
Among other things, the Ministry wants a thorough investigation to be launched into the Wednesday’s match.
According to the Ministry, video review shows how two penalties for Liberia were disallowed by the Ivorian Referee on Wednesday night.
The decision the Ministry stated has impacted not only the match but also Liberia’s chances of qualifying for the 2026 world cup as such needs to be investigated.
The Government through the Ministry of Youth and Sports further that such critical errors by the officiating undermines the principles of fairness and integrity in Sports as such the issue must be addressed at the highest level of Football, FIFA.
” We want a replay of the match to ensure that justice is served and the integrity of the game is upheld “, the Ministry of Youth and Sports reemphasized.
It can be record that despite good display by Liberians, the Lonestar lost to the visitors, Tunisia one goal to zero in front of a sizable home fans on Wednesday night.
The sizable fans saw the defeat as a work in progress for the young Liberian side who dominated the entire game but failed to score a goal.
However, there were some controversial moments and decisions ignored by the match officials including two disallowed penalties something the Ministry of Youth and sports want a thorough investigation into the crucial errors in order to uphold the good tenants of Fairplay and integrity of the game.
