ANC Congratulates CDC on 22nd Anniversary, Cummings to Deliver Keynote Address

Monrovia, Liberia – June 25, 2026 – The Alternative National Congress (ANC) has extended congratulations to the opposition Congress for Democratic Change (CDC) on the occasion of its 22nd anniversary celebration, describing the milestone as a significant contribution to Liberia’s democratic journey.

In a statement issued Thursday, the ANC commended the CDC for its role in advancing Liberia’s democratic process over the past twenty-two years and reaffirmed the importance of political tolerance, dialogue, and national unity among the country’s political actors.

The ANC also announced that its Political Leader, Alexander B. Cummings, has accepted an invitation from the CDC to serve as the keynote speaker during the party’s anniversary celebration in Grand Gedeh County.

According to the statement, the ANC considers the invitation extended to Mr. Cummings as a gesture of goodwill and mutual respect between the two political institutions.

“We express our sincere appreciation to the leadership of the CDC for this gesture of goodwill and respect,” the party stated.

The ANC disclosed that Mr. Cummings will travel to Grand Gedeh County accompanied by senior party officials and members to participate in the anniversary activities alongside CDC leaders and supporters.

The party said it recognizes the significance of the CDC’s 22-year milestone and praised the party’s contributions to Liberia’s democratic development.

The ANC further emphasized that constructive engagement among political parties remains critical to strengthening democracy and fostering national unity.

“The ANC believes that constructive engagement, mutual respect, and political tolerance among Liberia’s political actors are essential to strengthening our democracy and promoting national unity,” the statement noted. “We therefore welcome opportunities such as this that foster dialogue, cooperation, and a shared commitment to the progress of our nation.”

The party concluded by once again congratulating the CDC on its anniversary and wishing the party a successful and memorable celebration.

The statement was signed by Desmond U. Nimely, Secretary General of the Alternative National Congress (ANC).

The announcement comes as political observers view the participation of ANC Political Leader Alexander B. Cummings in the CDC’s anniversary program as a notable demonstration of inter-party engagement at a time when calls for greater political cooperation and national reconciliation continue to grow in Liberia.
