President Boakai, Senate Leadership Commit to Stronger Executive-Legislative Collaboration

Monrovia, Liberia – July 14, 2026 – President Joseph Nyuma Boakai, Sr. on Tuesday met with the leadership of the Liberian Senate in a high-level consultative meeting aimed at strengthening cooperation between the Executive and Legislative branches of government on key national priorities.

The meeting, held at the President’s Rehab Community Office in Paynesville, focused on enhancing collaboration in advancing governance, national development, national security, and the overall welfare of the Liberian people.

According to a release from the Executive Mansion, President Boakai and members of the Senate leadership held discussions on a range of national issues, underscoring the importance of sustained dialogue and constructive engagement between the Presidency and the Legislature.

The two sides agreed to maintain regular consultations and continue working together to promote peace, political stability, and effective governance in Liberia.

The Executive Mansion said the meeting reaffirmed the shared commitment of both branches of government to strengthening democratic institutions through cooperation and mutual respect.

Representing the Senate leadership at the meeting were Vice President Jeremiah Kpan Koung, Senate President Pro Tempore Nyonblee Karnga-Lawrence, Montserrado County Senator Abraham Darius Dillon, Bomi County Senator Alex Tyler, Maryland County Senators James P. Biney and Gbleh-bo Brown, Bong County Senator Prince K. Moye, Grand Cape Mount County Senator Dabah M. Varpilah, and Sinoe County Senator Augustine S. Chea.

Also attending from the Executive Branch were Minister of State for Presidential Affairs Samuel A. Stevquoah, Minister of Justice and Attorney General Cllr. Oswald N. Tweh, Minister of Information, Cultural Affairs and Tourism Jerolinmek M. Piah, National Security Advisor Samuel Kofi Woods II, and Presidential Legal Advisor Bushuben M. Keita.

The meeting comes as the Boakai administration continues efforts to foster closer coordination with the Legislature in implementing its national development agenda and addressing pressing governance and security challenges.

I The Executive Mansion indicated that both the Presidency and the Senate leadership remain committed to sustained engagement in pursuit of policies and initiatives that advance Liberia’s peace, stability, and socioeconomic development.
