Chief Executive Officer of Lap Sportswear, has officially launched the Nimba Football Academy in Sanniquellie, Nimba County.
The Nimba Football Academy is a newly established institution aimed at supporting young and aspiring athletes across the county. The academy is set to become the first football academy in Nimba County, providing structured training and development opportunities for children with a passion for sports.
Speaking during the launching ceremony, Amb. Gwan expressed appreciation to all attendees for their presence and support. He described the establishment of the academy as a long-held dream that has finally become a reality through the support and collaboration of dedicated individuals who believe in youth development through sports.
He emphasized that the vision behind the academy is to create opportunities for young people to develop their football talents and gain exposure to professional pathways. According to him, while not everyone may reach the professional level, there are many ways to contribute meaningfully to sports in Liberia. He encouraged young people to remain committed, passionate, and disciplined as they pursue their dreams.
Amb. Gwan noted that the academy will strategically grow in phases, beginning with the recruitment of at least 14 players during the initial stage. He explained that selections will be made based on evaluations conducted by the technical team, including the head coach and other officials who will oversee training and player development.
He further stated that the academy’s mission is to identify and nurture talent not only in Sanniquellie but across Nimba County. He urged children to take advantage of the opportunity, reminding them that with dedication and hard work, some may one day play for top teams in Europe, America, and beyond.
