President Joseph Nyuma Boakai has called on newly commissioned members of his administration to demonstrate unwavering dedication and commitment to public service as he officially swore them into their respective positions.
Speaking during the commissioning of 10 government officials held at the executive mansion on Tuesday, March 4, 2025, the Liberian Chief Executive used the occasion to appreciate government officials who have devoted their lives and committed themselves to work in the interest and betterment of the country.
According to him, the occasion is graced to honor and commission individuals who will impact and fully represent Liberia on the international stage.
“We have submitted a bid to secure a seat on the UN Security Council as a non-permanent member. Your role is to serve our nation, and how you represent us will play a key part in advancing our interests.”
Among the honorees are Hon. Henry Saamoi, Executive Governor of the Central Bank of Liberia; Hon. James Wilfred, Deputy Governor for Operations at CBL; Ambassador Al-Hassan Conteh, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Liberia to the United States of America; Hon. Levi Demmah, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Liberia to the Kingdom of Belgium; Ambassador Brahima Kaba, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Liberia to the State of Kuwait; and Hon. Joseph Johnson, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Liberia to the Kingdom of Morocco, amongst several others.
Speaking on behalf of those commissioned, Dr. Al-Hassan Conteh acknowledged President Boakai for the trust placed in them to represent the country’s interest abroad.
According to him, the team pledged their commitment to work diligently to promote and strengthen bilateral relations between Liberia and their respective country of assignment.
We understand the importance of our roles in fostering cooperation, understanding, and mutual respect between countries he added.
Dr. Conteh uses the occasion to reaffirm their commitment to upholding the value of diplomacy while at the same time serving Liberia with distinction in their various missions.
The ceremony highlights the significance of diplomacy in advancing Liberia’s interests and contributing to global peace and development.
For his part, Henry Saamoi, central bank Governor of Liberia pledges their support to rebranding the CBL as a means of resetting Liberia’s economy on a viable trajectory
He however stated their dedication to serving the country with diligence, transparency, accountability, and integrity in the discharge of their respective roles.
This economic reset is about macroeconomic stability and addressing key issues including inflationary and exchange rate pressures, while fostering a stable economic environment through policy reforms.
He said since assuming the leadership of the CBL in August 2024, he has worked with other colleagues on the board of governors, the executive and senior management team to implement urgent reforms to address issues raised by the General Auditing Commission (GAC) and other external audit reports.
Providing more details, Saamoi outlined a new strategy plan that will define the new direction that is envisioned for the central bank.
“Our new SP 2025-2029 which aligned with the ARREST AGENDA includes three key initiatives Modernization of Liberia’s Payment Infrastructure, Enhanced regulatory Environment, and Financial Inclusion he added,” said
Speaking further the CBL governor assured President Boakai to take further steps to improve operational efficiency at the bank by ensuring efficient and productive personnel, prudent financial management, and practices to maintain financial stability, credibility, and public trust.
“To achieve these objectives, we have begun examining the bank’s non-core operations where savings can be used for the border goals and objectives of the bank” he started.
“Through responsible financial sector governance, digital transformation, and sound economic policies, we will create an effort in the economic and financial system that is transparent, predictable, and tough,” he said.
